Plan a custom sweater order around Chinese New Year by working backward from the required warehouse date and obtaining separate written calendars for yarn, trims, knitting, finishing, inspection and freight. The statutory holiday is only one input: do not assume every supplier closes or restarts together. Freeze approvals early, protect quality gates, and accept a pre-holiday shipment only when the goods are complete and released.

Separate the public holiday from the operating calendar

China's State Council publishes the official holiday arrangement for each year. For example, its 2026 notice set Spring Festival leave from February 15 through February 23, with adjusted working days. That notice does not define the last order date, final yarn dispatch, factory closure, carrier cutoff or date at which a particular line returns to normal output.

Ask every critical supplier for its own dated plan. A knitting factory may be open while a yarn dyer, label printer, washing subcontractor or trucking provider is unavailable. Treat “open” as an administrative status until the supplier confirms the people, materials and process capacity required for your style.

Start from the buyer's required arrival event

Name the destination, time zone and commercial event: warehouse receipt, wholesale appointment, campaign shoot or retail launch. Then work backward through final delivery, customs, main carriage, export handling, inspection, packing, finishing, linking, knitting, yarn preparation, sample approval and buyer review. Show dependencies and buffer separately.

Yushengda's confirmed reference ranges are 7–15 working days for sampling and 25–45 days for bulk after deposit, subject to yarn, construction, finish, quantity, approvals and capacity. These are planning references, not holiday promises. Obtain a project-specific schedule that identifies whether any stage crosses a supplier closure.

Lock materials before promising production

Record yarn article, composition, count, color, dye lot, required quantity, approved substitute rules and physical location. Add labels, zippers, buttons, packaging and any specialty-finish inputs. A purchase request is not the same as received and accepted material, and available yarn is not automatically allocated to the order.

If yarn must be dyed or substituted, place approval time on the critical path. Do not waive shade, composition, hand-feel or performance review merely to reach a holiday cutoff. If a substitute changes cost, claims or care instructions, update the quotation, bill of materials and labels before release.

Freeze decisions with a responsibility matrix

List every approval, owner, reviewer, due date, response-time assumption and escalation contact. Include fit sample, measurements, stitch construction, color standard, artwork, trims, wash or spray appearance, care label, packing and shipment split. State which approval authorizes bulk and which observations remain open.

Buyer silence does not create schedule capacity. If a decision misses its deadline, recalculate the forecast and show the affected milestones. A truthful revised delivery plan is more useful than preserving an old date whose assumptions no longer exist.

Set a defensible pre-holiday cutoff

The last acceptable production date must leave time for finishing, conditioning, measurement, testing where required, final inspection, correction, packing, document reconciliation and carrier handover. Never define the cutoff as “last day the factory is open.” A carton packed on that day may still lack quality release, accurate documents or a confirmed pickup.

If the complete order cannot pass all gates, compare a later complete shipment with a controlled partial shipment. A partial must be commercially usable by style, color and size; separately inspected; clearly numbered; and supported by its own packing list and transport documents. Do not ship convenient leftovers that cannot support the buyer's allocation.

Do not trade quality for a calendar promise

Keep the approved sample, measurement specification, workmanship standard and inspection plan in force. Report accepted quantity separately from gross output and work in progress. Allow time for repair and reinspection instead of assuming first-pass acceptance.

A deadline conflict should trigger an explicit decision among later delivery, reduced scope, approved split or changed transport. It should not silently remove wash testing, shade comparison, metal control, final inspection or packaging checks required by the order.

Verify restart with evidence, not a reopening message

After the holiday, confirm that the responsible merchandiser, technicians, operators and quality personnel are available; the approved yarn and trims remain identified; relevant machines and finishing partners are ready; and the production slot is still assigned. Ask for a dated first-output status and compare it with the approved reference before releasing the balance.

Update the time-and-action calendar from actual restart facts. Separate factory reopening, material availability, first production, stable output, inspection and shipment. If the first units reveal tension, measurement, shade or finishing variation, contain them and correct the process before increasing output.

Buyer Chinese New Year planning checklist

  • The required warehouse event and latest useful arrival are written.
  • Official holiday dates and supplier operating dates are separate.
  • Yarn, trims, knitting, finishing, inspection and freight have named calendars.
  • Every approval has an owner, deadline and escalation rule.
  • Materials are physically verified, not merely ordered.
  • The pre-holiday cutoff includes correction and carrier handover.
  • Quality gates remain unchanged under schedule pressure.
  • Any partial shipment is independently sellable and documented.
  • Restart is confirmed by people, input, capacity and output evidence.
  • The forecast is revised when an assumption changes.
